Culture

all around

There are many fascinating places rich in culture that you can visit in the province of Trento and on the shores of the lake, in the Veneto and Lombardy areas. Here are some: Trento, with its Museum of Science and Technology, MUSE, designed by the famous architect Renzo Piano, allows you to enjoy a view of the city's rooftops from the balconies of the Buonconsiglio Castle, whose rooms can be visited. In Malcesine, just 17 km away, you can visit the splendid Scaligero Castle overlooking the lake and take the cable car to reach Monte Baldo. In Gardone Riviera you can visit the Vittoriale degli Italiani, a fascinating terrace overlooking Garda that still preserves the original furnishings in early 1900s style and the museum dedicated to the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio. And, of course, the famous Arena of Verona, which is less than an hour away from Nago.

Castles

of Trentino

Impregnable fortresses, sumptuous castles or romantic manors, Trentino is a land of castles: fortified presences that have shaped the landscape and are still true points of reference. Born as defensive structures, many of the Trentino castles have transformed into elegant and prestigious residences over time. These contexts offer visitors new itineraries, among daring architectural solutions and surprising figurative languages. A rich heritage of art and history that awaits you in over 150 structures! Here is the information to accompany you on a special journey into the Middle Ages, among swords, crosses and crenellated walls:

Nature

From the sunny shores of Lake Garda to the most turquoise lakes of Trentino: Lake Ledro, where the pile dwellings are located, and Lake Tenno where you can visit the artists' village in Canale. Lake Tovel, which once was tinged with red, Lake Molveno, the warm waters of Lake Caldonazzo and Levico. And then the enchanting mountain lakes.

Mountain enthusiasts in search of the quiet bliss of the peaks meet lovers of panoramic walks who do not give up the view of the lake and its beaches. Garda Trentino welcomes everyone, from mountaineers who love to push themselves further, to hikers who prefer to stretch out on the flowering meadows.

Hire a mountain bike and ride along the lake at sunset, ride along the banks of the Sarca river at dawn, explore the Valle di Ledro nature reserve, following the cycle route from Rovereto to Limone. Enjoy a holiday between lake and mountain and the typical specialities of Lake Garda.

Art Cities

From Nago, by car or train, it is possible to reach spectacular, ancient and wonderful cities of art. Here are the closest: Trento, full of colourful streets, the Castello del Buonconsiglio, the Duommo and Piazza San Vigilio. In Verona, home to the famous open-air theatre known as the ‘Arena’ where musical concerts can be enjoyed in summer, there is also the house of Shekespirian Juliet and the Castelvecchio museum designed by the great Carlo Scarpa. In the ducal palace of Mantua, about an hour's drive from Nago, you can see Mantegna's fresco of the ‘camera picta’; nearby Sabbioneta, instead, is the location of the Olympic theatre dating back to the end of the 16th century, Europe's first example of a stable theatre. And then there is the only city in the world built entirely on water: Venice and its thousands of architectures, epochs, histories and squares that you absolutely cannot miss.
